Our Mission
We are focused on nurturing supernatural wonder, each child’s God-given, authentic expression & a creative educational experience, while empowering our students to change the world.
School Specifics
Wonder students attend school every week Monday - Thursday from 9am-3pm where education in core academics is partnered with and encompassed by the creative vision of the school.
On Fridays we provide at home learning ideas that continue the quest for educating the whole child by cultivating good habits specifically related to character and family development. Parents receive a list of books to read together and independently that also serve to further handwriting and spelling skills from these passages. Wonder Christian Academy provides key suggestions for learning through spending time in God’s creation, learning from great artists and composers, bible study, foreign languages, and science. All designed to enhance your child’s education and to cultivate a love for learning.
In addition, we have quarterly scheduled field trips that are exciting, educational and help build the community of WCA families.
Below you will discover answers to specific questions, a sample classroom schedule and our core academic subjects.
FAQs:
Do I stay with my child at the school on classroom days?
No, you will drop your child or children off between 8:30AM-9:00AM and pick them up at 3PM. Each classroom is taught and conducted by a qualified WCA teacher while also being overseen by our Director of Education that holds a teacher’s degree through the state of Alabama and has several years of classroom educational experience.
What educational curriculum does WCA use?
WCA partners with My Father’s World as the foundation of the academic backbone of WCA. My Father’s World combines the best of Charlotte Mason ideas, classical education, and unit studies with a biblical worldview and global focus. In addition, WCA supplements further academic discovery, creative learning encounters, and spiritual guidance for each child.
Will I have additional guidance for Friday at home learning from the school, if needed?
